I am sharing some of our wedding photos as this Silver Acheik outfit was catching people’s attention at previous 2022 Asian Pacific American Heritage Month Celebration of State of Maryland.
Burmese Traditional Dress
It is very common for the Burmese bride to wear a bustier (Yin Kan in Burmese) with a hip-length jacket and a longyi (lower body garment) with a long train at the traditional wedding ceremony. But, here I simply made a top, buttoned at the side and a longyi without a tail, just for comfort. The fabric design is of classic embroidered wavy Acheik pattern.
